el proyecto de cuba "que cocinaBa che"
Because of recent developments in U.S.-Cuba relations, such as Obama meeting Raul Castro for the first time, we decided to learn about Cuba and the Cuban Revolution. We studied Che Guevara's life and his role in the Cuban Revolution, and then started working on our project. We were given the choice to either create a photoshop art piece about Che using the command form, or you could research and make a Cuban food for the class, using the command form to write the recipe. I chose to make the Elena Ruz sandwich, which is jelly, cream cheese, and turkey. Yes, that is an actual Cuban food. One thing I wished I did differently for this project would be to make the sandwiches at home, and only hand them out during class. As I was sitting in class making the sandwiches, people would come up and be kinda grossed out about the combination of flavors on the sandwich, but it was actually pretty good. I think that if I prepared them beforehand more people would have tried them.
Biography Project
For this project, we all profiled a famous Spanish-speaking person of our choosing. I chose Salvador Dali. First, we created a rough outline of our person's life and then used that outline to create a presentation on our person in Spanish. After that, we created a short speech about our person in the first person, and delivered it to the class. The exhibition had us dress up as our character, present our speech, show our presentation, and then answer questions from our audience. I think that this project went very well overall for me. I learned a lot of interesting things about Dali, like how his parents believed that he was the reincarnation of their previous, deceased, son. Additionally, I solidified my understanding of conjugations in the preterite and imperfect. During the exhibition, I felt comfortable with my speech and think that I spoke fairly accurately in Spanish. See below for my presentation on Dali's life.
