Project PropOsal
From the beginning, I wanted to do my internship with a small bike company. In the future I would like to be a part of the bike industry, so I wanted to see firsthand the process of designing and then making bikes. I knew I could stay with my grandparents in Denver, so I first applied to Yeti Cycles in Golden, however they did not have a position I was looking for, so I kept looking. I then applied to Durango Bike Company here in town, however the owners were out of town during the LINK time frame. I then applied to several other bike companies in Colorado like Reeb, Guerrilla Gravity, and Moots. Matt, the lead engineer at Guerrilla Gravity, replied to my inquiry quickly and was enthusiastic about hosting me. He was also very helpful in providing me with a project almost from the get go. My hopes for this internship were to learn about the engineering process, the operation of a small business, the bike industry, and the mechanics of bikes. Additionally, I wanted to be able to help a small bike company in any way I could and see if I possibly wanted to be an engineer.
